Background:
Ajaya's father disappeared after he was born. Nobody knows where he is now. Ajaya also has a brother and their mother has to work as a daily labourer each day to feed them. The family migrated from the south of Nepal, Terai, and came as strangers here. The mother now carries stones the whole day to earn their living. There is no money for school and proper clothing. Ajaya likes going to school and a sponsor was found. Family Zuidgeest from the Netherlands pay for his school and uniform, shoes etc. An interesting detail here is that the school agreed to have the little brother temporarily coming with him without payment as there is nobody at home during the day. We are very grateful for these chances given to this family.

Background:
After Anu was born her father became mentally ill and was never able to work again. He does not live with the family anymore and Anu lives with her mother and her elder sister in a small village near the Prithivi Highway in Baniyatar. Her mother and sister earn a basic living cleaning dishes for other people in the village. Anu had to help also but was spotted by a government official who thought this was child labour and tried to find funds to pay for a school for her. He contacted Bir, our project manager and a school was found and also a sponsor who was willing to pay for her education. The sponsors are the Dioquino family from USA. Anu is very happy to have the possibility now to get an education.

Background:
Archan lives in Sundarijal with his parents and 2 brothers. His father has no steady work and basic needs can hardly be provided. The elder brothers go to school but there is no money left for Archan. SCP decided to look for a sponsor for him so he can go to school in May 2007. The sponsor found will be Herve and Marilyn Pinon from France. From May 2007 onwards they will pay the school fees and other school costs for Archan. The family is very happy with this solution.

Background:
Bibek lives in Sundarijal at the foot of the Himalaya's. He only has a father as his mother died of cancer when he was very young. His father has to go out everyday to work as a daily laborer and has not the time neither the money to take care of Bibek. SCP found it necessary to find a boarding school for Bibek and with the agreement of his father Bibek stays now in a good boarding school where he became friends with Pemba, also a child who is sponsored via SCP. SCP was lucky to find enthusiastic sponsors in Pieta and Geert van Dee from France. Now Bibek can look forward to a good future.

Background:
Bimali lives with her mothers, 2 brothers and one sister in Mulpani, In the Kathmandu Valley. The family had to flee from the northern part of Nepal and tried a new future in this valley. Unfortunately the father died and the mother can barely make ends meet. SCP decided that help was needed and found a sponsor for Bimali and also for her brother. Liesbeth and Douwe Lycklama a Nijeholt from the Netherlands gladly sponsor Bimali's studies. She is very happy to have this opportunity now.

She and her family live in a beautiful place in the mountains above Sundarijal. Her family is very poor and does not have the financial resources to send her to school. Every day they work as daily labourers and the money they earn with that just covers their basic needs. As Laxmi loves to attend school SCP found a sponsor willing to pay for this. Jane and Ernie knowles from Scotland very kindly offered to pay for her studies. Also, because this should mean she had to walk 3 hours each day they agreed to let her stay in a hostel during the week. She walks home for the weekends. Laxmi is very happy with this and smiles all day now.

Background:
Mina's mother died at her birth. Her father remarried later but left the children, which is the habit in Nepal. The children then have to be raised by the late mother's family. Mina has 2 sisters who both became nuns in a Buddhist monastery. Mina did not want this and she lives now with her grandmother in Kavre near Panauti. They are very poor and are supported for their basic needs by family. Of course there was no money for Mina to attend a school and she wanted so badly to become a teacher! SCP was very lucky to find Adeline Civretta, a teacher herself from USA, to be willing to sponsor Mina's studies and also some extra food and clothing. Now Mina wants to work very hard and fulfill her dreams.

When Nira was 7 years old her father ran away and since then her mother had to take care of her and her 2 small brothers. Her mother works whole days as a stone carrier and Nira had to look after her 2 brothers and also work sometimes in the village as a cleaning woman. They live in the village Dhunibesi in a small hut. When Bir, our project manager, met Nira in her village he asked her face to face if she would like to attend school and a big smile appeared. SCP found a sponsor for her, Jenny Leffers from USA. Nira is very thankful for this. The school agreed to take the brothers for free during the first period and now another sponsor came along from the village who is willing to pay for them. SCP is grateful for the wonderful outcome for this family.

Pemba comes from a beautiful little village situated south of the Mt. Everest area, called Pokali. His father is most of the time away trying to earn money as a guide during the trekking season. While on trekking he met a sponsor who was willing to pay for Pemba's boarding school as they live so far away from good schools. Roshan comes from the western part of Nepal. He is an orphan and his uncle and aunt take care of him. Those people are very poor and they have no daily income. Because there was no money to send him to school SCP offered to help and found two good sponsors in the Netherlands, Sara and Eva Jans who together support him. He is very happy to be able to go to school now.

Samir Raj Thokar lives near Terai in the district of Makawanpur. His parents are very poor and his mother is often ill. The father goes out each day to find work as a daily laborer in order to feed the family. There is no money to send him to school. One day Bir, the project manager of SCP, met his father in Kathmandu where he was looking for work and he offered him to find a sponsor for him. Pierre and Marie-Claude Cottu from France agreed to take care of his education at school. Thanks to them he can look for a happier future now.

His story: Sanjaya is from the eastern part of Barabise, of the district Sidhupalchok. His parents had to flee from the Maoists and now live in the outskirts of Kathmandu, in Tinchuli V.D.C. ward no-6. His parents work as daily laborers and cannot afford to send him to school. They are happy SCP found a sponsor to pay Sanjaya's educational expenses.
His personality: Sanjaya is a charming boy, quiet and often smiling when he talks. He likes drawing, but also learning to speak English and Nepali. He likes analyzing things and can be engrossed in a puzzle for hours.

Now he enjoys going to the school in the village and the whole family has more hope for their future.

His parents can barely afford the needs of the family and have to work both as daily laborers. As there is no money left to send the children to school SCP found for each boy a sponsor. Suraj lives in central Nepal, about 200 km from Kathmandu. His parents are very poor and they live in a small hut. They have no daily income and cannot afford to send him to school. When Bir, our project manager, met this family in Kathmandu he offered help and SCP found a sponsor in the Netherlands, Rene and Petra Jans. They agreed to pay for his studies and he is happy now for this opportunity.

Sushila comes from the eastern part of Nepal. Her family had to flee and now they live in rented space in Sundarijal, above a cow stable. Her parents both work as daily labourers and cannot afford to send Sushila to school. When Bir, SCP's project manager came to know this he offered help to them and SCP found a sopnsor in the Netherlands, Eric and Karien van der Heiden. Sushila now happily goes to her school in Sundarijal everyday and she can look into a positive future.

Background:
Sushil lives with his mother in a very small house in Sundarijal. His father died 8 years ago and his mother also is not very healthy. However she has to work as a daily labourer in order to fulfill the basic needs for Sushil and his elder brother. It is clear there is no extra money to send Sushil to school. SCP found a sponsor in the Netherlands, Elias and Nicolien Woudenberg, who offered straightaway to help when they heard about this. Now Sushil goes to his school everyday and is very grateful for the support given to him.
