Pokali Health Post
In 2008 it was decided to build a health post in Pokali as the villagers had to walk for 3 days before reaching a hospital. Also too many babies died around birth. This building was finished in 2009. The villagers built the health post themselves and carried the bags with cement for the building from the river up to the hill were the health post was constructed.
We still need money for the furniture as there are beds, tables, chairs, medical equipment and office equipment. We will establish a dispensary and fill it with medicines. Afterwards they have to sell the medicaments and buy themselves new ones or try to get the money from the government.
We promised to pay the salary of one nurse during 5 years. This will be one who is also a midwife. We hope that in the future the Nepal Government will take this responsibility. We also hope to be able to afford a periodic visit of a doctor towards the post.
Any help for this initiative is highly appreciated by the villagers of Pokali who are very grateful of our care towards them. They live in a forgotten area and are very poor. They consist mainly of Sherpa
